A red wolf will typically live in a very small pack consisting of a breeding pair and their puppies from previous years. Only the alphas will breed and typically mate for life. Red wolves communicate within their pack in various ways such as scent marking, vocalization, and body language.
These mammals typically locate prey in three ways: direct scenting, chase encounter, and tracking. Wolves have a sense of smell 100 times better than humans and their hearing is extremely sensitive, which allows them to easily stalk prey. Primarily active at night, this allows wolves to be even more successful in their hunts.
Fun Fact:
Red wolves are considered monogamous and typically mate for life.
