Caring for animals at the Zoo takes more than just Zoology! It is a combination of many scientific fields–the physics of animal movement, the chemistry of specialized medicines and diets, and the ecology of animal interactions and relationships. Embark on a journey of discovery as you learn how science plays an essential role in keeping our animals healthy!
Dive deeper into the field of zookeeping and see first-hand what it’s like to care for the animals at ZooTampa. From cleaning habitats and providing enrichment to monitoring animal health and delivering keeper chats, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be a true Animal Care Expert!
Did you know that our rhinos lend us an ear so that we can take a blood sample? Or that our elephants show us their feet in order to get pedicures? All of the training we do at ZooTampa helps us better care for our animals. Join the team as you learn the tools and techniques our trainers use, and test your own training skills throughout the week!

ZooTampa at Lowry Park offers a variety of delicious food for guests at several restaurants and concession stands throughout, but we understand that guests may need to bring outside food for special dietary needs.
