Llamas typically social animals, oftentimes living in groups called herds. They are very vocal as well, making a humming sound to communicate. If males decide to fight or sense danger in any way, they will send a loud alarm call, which warns the rest of the herd. Males are very protective over females and will find high vantage points to watch over their family. Females are very protective over their young and will often hum to them to show comfort.
Fun Fact:
Their ability to carry loads weighing up to 130 pounds (60kg) and to travel up to 19 miles (30km) per day makes them efficient pack animals.
